History of the Ministry
Alabaster Ladies Ministry was founded in 2012 with the aim of creating a platform for women in various age groups (generations) to mentor one another.
The ministry was founded by Ms. Diana Angwech, the then youth chairperson. During her tenure as the first female youth chairperson, she recognized that there was a need for mentorship of young ladies in all spheres of life including spiritually, as home makers, professionally and as leaders among others. The structures within which ministry was carried out at the Cathedral did not provide a platform for elderly women to interact with the younger women and so a platform was created to allow for interaction with one another with the belief that mentorship relationships would be formed.
In 2012, a group of youth came together to create the Alabaster Ladies Ministry. Alabaster is a type of white stone that was in the past used to make vessels which carried expensive oil. This symbolism is important in this ministry; it signifies the journey of a woman who becomes a believer, and is then made pure and molded to carry the presence of God.
The first theme of the first conference became the ministry tagline~ Made for More.
The ministry initially started as a two-day conference and has grown into a fully-fledged ministry which runs various programs including;
All these programs are geared towards creating a wholesome and empowered woman. We firmly believe that a transformed and empowered woman translates into transformed families, communities, institutions and nations.
